Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a wonderful, and meaningful time with your families and friends, relaxed a little, and didn’t eat too much.
Things are rolling along and I am finally having a chance to get a little caught up so I thought I would do a quick post of Bella and Gabriel on Halloween. I had to shoot this in total darkness (they are lit by just the flash) so I could get them to drag the lights around in the image. The looks on their faces are priceless though. I think they are thinking what is daddy doing? We are standing in a dark room, can’t see a thing, and he wants us to wave these lights around and smile, sure dad?
Just got my VW back from the dealer with a new clutch and it is rockin again big time. It broke when I got home from Florida and was missed dearly while it was at the shop. I was driving it to be fixed and kept losing power until there was absolutely nothing left. So it wouldn’t go another foot and was half way out in the road (going up hill, in the middle of no where) so I got out to push it off the road and pushed it right into a ditch that was about six feet deep.
Don’t you just love it when that happens?
I called AAA and they said, “We need a cross-road sir.” I said, “I’m sorry but there isn’t one”…I guess you have to see where I live (beautiful country, but it is country) to know what I mean. They found me, got the car out of the ditch, delivered to the dealer, and everything is fine once again.
I am also working on revising my prices for weddings. There is so much work that is involved, and I put my heart and soul into everyone. The price needs to better reflect what goes into shooting one on this level and the final product that is delivered. I realize this means that I will be losing a lot of potentially great customers to other photographers that are a lot cheaper. Keep it in mind though that like everything else in this world, you get what you pay for. I am not putting down less expensive photographers, or people that don’t have the budget to spend more. It is just that I feel, (and have been told numerous times) that my images and experience speak for themselves. As always, I assure you that your total experience will be well worth the extra cost, and the images will be something you can treasure for generations to come.

LOL their looks are priceless!!!! that is hilarious. especially bella’s in the first one… like uhhhh what the heck am i doing?
glad to hear you are raising the prices a bit frank, i know it’s a good move. you put your heart and soul into everything in your business and it shows. you CAN NOT be one of those photographers who takes 40 weddings for a cheap price. there is nothing wrong with that, but it’s just not your personality. you put too much effort and care into a wedding, you have to have a model where you are more limited in numbers and compensated for that.
im sure any couple who has worked with you would agree.
best of luck on the jump!!
Hey Frank - your kids are SO cute. I love Gabriel’s muscles on the costume. As for the price increase - am I still locked in to last season’s price?
Just kidding - we’ll pay you whatever we have to!
I think I really do understand how much work goes into what you’re doing and how much of yourself - your heart and craftsmanship - you put into the work. Other people will understand that too. You have something unique and special to offer, and, simply, it’s worth a lot. I’ll bet you most of your clients would say that your work and your pictures to them are priceless….
All that said - I’m trying to decide whether or not to buy the dress that I want. Even though it’s really, really expensive and far more than I budgeted. But it’s from a design shop, an artist whom I totally respect, and I know the dress is worth every penny. It’s a give and take - is it worth it spend a lot of money on this thing, knowing that somewhere else we’ll have to cut back?
E-mail me if you want to see a picture. (You too, Luke!) I can fill you in on the whole dress saga…. (and I’m looking for advice too!)
Hope all is well - and you had a happy Thanksgiving!!!
Your kids are adorable! I’m sure it was a lot of fun shooting them.
As a follow-up to your previous comments, your hard work is very much appreciated. As your work ethic was so impressive at our engagement shoot, I can only imagine how our wedding photos will turn out. Thank you for all the effort you put into your art. I know our wedding is in good hands.
I hope everything is going well!
