It was a treat to get a little piece of home this past weekend for Marcie and Matt’s gorgeous wedding (my first of 2007) at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society. Growing up in the area, and exhibiting at the Albright Knox Art Gallery a few times, I have always wondered about the magnificent building across the water. The outside is spectacular, but we didn’t get to experiment too much because the weather held to frosty single digits. I compliment, and thank Marcie and Matt on braving the cold for a few shots though.
The inside is every bit as exciting, and is loaded with wonderful details. Technically, I have to admit that it was one of the more challenging places I have shoot at. The ceilings are very high, there is mixed lighting everywhere, and the light tends to fall off quickly in some areas. The ambiance it provides is magical though, and it was the perfect backdrop/setting for an unforgettable event. Oliver’s Restaurant did an outstanding job catering, and I have to say that I have never experienced such quality service anywhere. The always-attentive Colin Smith was remarkable with our table, anticipating the needs of the guests before the guests even knew they needed something. Trish, from Thrive Flowerstudio had an awesome flower display that included some beautiful orchids (my favs for those that know my flower show I did a couple of years ago), and every detail was special, right down to Jan’s (Marcie’s Mom) homemade cookies.
The families were, lets see how can I say this? Outstanding, yes, that is a good way to put it, outstanding indeed! Thank you everyone for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel at home. I was home, but I know it would have felt like home no matter where it was, because of you.
Congratulations, and thank you again Marcie and Matt. I wish you all the best on your new adventures together. As always, click on an image to see it larger.

Hi Frank,
Great photos again — I LOVE the one where the groom is eyeing the bride with a sideways glance, absolutely perfect. Hope you are well and very excited for you to shoot our wedding soon!
